Traditional Rękawka Festival at Krakus Mound on April 11

On April 11th, the annual Traditional Rękawka Festival will take place at Krakus Mound.
The event program includes, among others, a reenactment of a medieval battle, a reconstruction of a pre-Christian burial, and a concert by the folk band Daj Ognia.

HISTORY:
The traditional celebrations of the Rękawka festival at Krakus Mound were initiated in 2001 by the Podgórze Cultural Center, the Wisła Warriors Team KRAK, and the XIII District of Podgórze. The annual event allows participants to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of medieval Slavic culture through participation in reenactments of pre-Christian rituals, watching majestic medieval battles and costumes, as well as relaxing at the fair.

PROGRAM:
The event will be inaugurated, as every year, by lighting the fire (11:30). An hour later, the traditional Warriors' run in full armor will take place. At 14:00 on the summit of the Mound, the "Fight of the Old Gods with the New" will take place. The dedicated participants of the event will be gifted with a fortune for prosperity, which will be fulfilled through a uniquely sized kołacz (traditional Polish cake) (15:00).

At 15:30, the climax of the event will occur, referring to this year's theme - a great warriors' battle, involving nearly 300 people from historical reenactment groups from all over the country - from Pomerania to Zakopane – newcomers from Wisła will face representatives of the old order. Two impressive armies will fight for victory, which will allow settling in the Polish lands. The event will be crowned by a concert of the folk band Daj Ognia (17:00) and a reenactment of the tryzna - a pre-Christian burial ceremony.

The mentioned program points are only part of the attractions guaranteed by the organizer.

An inseparable element of the celebration is also the recreated medieval village, where one can visit craftsmen creating beautiful tools made according to centuries-old traditions. Participants of the event also have the opportunity to taste Old Polish delicacies and take part in themed activities.
