The longest day of the year, that is Krakow's Wreaths

Night of Kupala, Wianki, or simply the summer solstice – there are many names for the longest day and the shortest night of the year. However, it doesn't matter what we call this day, but how we celebrate it. Krakow has much to offer.

Wianki in Krakow will take place on June 24th. Open-air concerts, street performances, a contest for the most beautiful wreath, and a family picnic. Below is the detailed event program:

Saturday 24.06

  • 11:00 - Scientific and nature picnic - Astronomical experiments and workshops, games and curiosities, viewing meteorites and observing celestial bodies, mobile planetarium and a model of the Sun over 5 meters tall, as well as searching for the fern flower, sensory workshops, and a play zone.

 

  • 14:00 -  Contest for the most beautiful wreath

The contest takes place from 14:00 to 16:00 on Bulwar Czerwieński (Powiśle 11). The jury will deliberate between 16:00 and 17:00. The award ceremony will take place on stage at Powiśle 11 at 17:40 – 18:00.

 

  • Wreath weaving stations

These locations will host wreath weaving (14:00-16:00).

1: Demarczyk Square (by the Żeleński monument)

2: Skrzynecki Square (by the Grażyna monument)

3: Square by St. Casimir's Church (near the Palace of Art)

 

  • 16:00 -  Street Music

 

At 16:00, concerts by local artists will begin on the streets of Krakow. You will be able to listen to them in four different locations.
