Museum Night

The next edition of the Night of Museums is ahead of us, during which Krakow's cultural institutions will make their spaces available to visitors for free or for a symbolic złoty and will be open until late evening and night hours. The event will take place on May 19, and the participating galleries and museums have prepared interesting programs and accompanying events for visitors.

NMK MAIN BUILDING

"Artistic Craft Gallery," 1st floor

"XX + XXI. Polish Art Gallery," 2nd floor

  • 8:00 PM: Guided tour in Ukrainian – Польське сучасне мистецтво. Екскурсія українською, Kateryna Marchenko

Painting presentation of Tamara Łempicka: "Beautiful Rafaëla" (1927), "The Brilliance" (1932), "Abstract Composition in Black and Gray" (1956)

  • 7:00 PM–12:00 AM: Screening of the film "Grandma" directed by Barbara Szumowska, based on the statements of the granddaughter and great-granddaughter of the painter, revealing an unknown and surprising side of Tamara Łempicka, hall II floor

Temporary exhibition "Nowosielski," 2nd floor

  • 9:00 PM: Curatorial tour, Anna Budzałek
  • 8:30 PM–9:30 PM and 10:30 PM–11:30 PM: Screenings of the film "On the Other Side of the Day," screenplay and directed by Maciej Sikorski. A fictional film inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy, based on notes from patients of the Psychiatric Hospital in Kobierzyn, including opera star Rafał Siwek and actor Michał Koterski, who appear alongside actors from the Exit Theatre
  • 9:30 PM–10:30 PM: Discussion with the film creators and people involved in organizing support for those experiencing mental health crises, Samurai room, ground floor

National Museum Library

  • 7:30 PM, 8:15 PM, 9:00 PM, 9:45 PM: "Come, read, admire!" Presentation of the most interesting collections of the NMK Library. Limited seats, reservation: phone 12 433 57 44 or email rezerwacja@mnk.pl
  • 7:00 PM–9:00 PM: "zaDRUKuj clothes! – upcycling clothes." If your wardrobe contains forgotten clothes and other textiles that lack character or are slightly stained, bring them to our workshops – together we will give them a second life. Workshops led by the Crush On Trash Foundation and Hand Made My Day, square in front of the Main Building
