Mastercard Off Camera, the film week in Krakow

The 16th edition of Mastercard Off Camera is ahead of us, featuring nearly one hundred independent cinema productions. From April 28th to May 7th, Kraków will once again become a large open-air cinema.

• What's on the screens?

During the festival, you will be able to see films presented in eight sections: four main and four thematic sections, which change every year referring to current events and topics discussed in society.

Permanent sections:

• Main Competition Trailblazing – ten debuts or second films by directors from around the world competing for the Andrzej Wajda Krakow Film Award of 25,000 dollars. The award contenders include Do You Love Me?, Storm, Delegation, Banger, Medusa Deluxe, Chleb i sól, Motherhood, The Great Silence, Spare Keys, and A Room of My Own. The jury will include world-renowned cinematographer Michael Seresin and Ewa Puszczyńska, producer of the Oscar-winning Ida and the notable Silent Twins.
• Polish Feature Film Competition – ten of the most interesting Polish productions competing for the main prize of 100,000 PLN. On screen, we will see: Wyrwa, Hela, Niebezpieczni dżentelmeni, Tata, Miało cię nie być, Kobieta na dachu, Apokawixa, Strzępy, Silent Twins, and Norwegian Dreams.
• American Independents – bold, uncompromising, and fascinating cinema from across the ocean.
• Festival Hits – interesting and award-winning productions from film festivals around the world, which the Polish audience often gets to see for the first time on the big screen.

Thematic sections:

• Ahoj Adventure - the great return of New Adventure Cinema, which triumphed in the late 70s and 80s.
• Herstories - a section dedicated to showcasing women's strength and their perspective in a patriarchal world. These will be productions not only with a female lead but also films created by uncompromising female directors who turn gender norms upside down.
• Techno Party - the development of technology and social media has significantly changed our communication model and allowed building an alternative identity. In this section, we will consider the dark and bright sides that technological advancement brings.
• All in the Family - how does today's family function and what influences whom we call its members? It's time to look at new family formations, not necessarily defined by blood ties and biological kinship anymore.
