Free Tuesdays (and not only those) - which museums can you visit for free in Krakow?
Not everyone knows this, but it is really worth knowing that on Tuesdays most museums in Krakow offer free admission. The initiative applies to children, pupils, students as well as tourists, residents, and pensioners. In short – everyone is welcome and the gates of Krakow's museums are open to you... and all without spending money. Moreover, free visits are not only available on Tuesdays, but more about that in a moment.
This time we will not start from the beginning but will focus on Tuesday - the day when the offer has the widest range. It is precisely this day of the week when you can enter permanent exhibitions for free.
- In all branches of the National Museum:
- Main Building - al. 3 maja 1. The Gallery displays works of all the most outstanding creators, from Stanisław Wyspiański, Jacek Malczewski, Józef Mehoffer to Andrzej Wróblewski, Wojciech Fangor, Łukasz Korolkiewicz and many others. The exhibition includes both paintings as well as sculpture, glass, and artistic ceramics.
- Sukiennice - Rynek Główny 3. Sukiennice houses one of the largest permanent exhibitions of 19th-century Polish painting and sculpture in Poland. Including famous names such as Chełmoński and Michałowski.

The exhibition includes Wyspiański’s own portraits and Self-portrait with wife from 1904, complemented by images of children (Sleeping Mietek, Helenka with a vase), as well as portraits of acquaintances from the Krakow bohemian circle, including painter Józef Mehoffer.
- Czapski Museum and Czapski Pavilion - ul. Piłsudskiego 12. Collections of old prints and the Numismatic Cabinet established in 1883, and at the Pavilion an exhibition that takes us through the extraordinary life of the writer and painter, but also through the nightmares of the 20th century. It is also a vast collection of memorabilia presenting the history of Poland.
- Mehoffer House - ul. Krupnicza 26. This is the artist’s house-museum, in this case with a rich, authentic interior.
